Noel had roughly measured the size that would fit her finger by judging with his eyes, so he was worried about what would happen if it did not fit. Fortunately, that was not the case; it was perfect

Irene looked curiously at the ring on her finger.

“Is this the special expense Noel was talking about?”

“Half a billion is not a lot of money to protect my wife, the future Grand Duchess.”

Irene flushed hearing him call her, the future Grand Duchess.”

“What kind of magic does it contain?” she asked.

“I’ll explain. Future Grand Duchess.” Mulliman, who was listening, abruptly intervened. 

“First of all, this ring is the masterpiece of my life as a magician. Keke.”

He began to explain rather verbosely. Irene gulped. She did not know much about prices, but she could tell that 500 million was not by any means, a small amount. Besides, the top floor… It was an exclusive commission that took the work of several mages.

On the surface, it’s just an ordinary ring.

She turned it around, but could not find anything hidden that differentiated it. Mulliman understood what she was looking for, and his face lit up in pride.

“Here you go.” Irene took off her ring in response and handed it to Mulliman.

Perhaps he had been waiting in advance for Mulliman’s call, an assistant named Ryun rushed to them holding in his arms something huge. He stumbled, trying to carry the seemingly heavy model and dropped it down with a thud, a little further away from Irene.

“It’s a model that resembles a human body. Now, I will show you how to smash that model. Watch carefully and mimic how I attack in the case of an emergency.”

Was it just her that his words somewhat seemed strangely violent? However, it appeared that it wasn’t just a feeling. The expression of the man in the distance as he stretched out his hand toward the model, was flared with killing intent. Looking at the model, Irene knew it must have been through a lot of stress in the past. Zeroing in on the model, Mulliman licked his lips.

At that moment, a roar clapped like thunder and the room shook. The model’s head exploded. It all happened in an instant. Irene looked at the model in amazement, which had just been decapitated and crumpled down helplessly on the floor. The assistant cleared the model; his motions were completely natural.

“What just happened?” Irene asked.

“The principle is simple. Whilst wearing this ring, aim at the target you want to hit, condense the mana stored in the ring at one point, and the concentrated mana will explode at once. It’s a force destructive enough to blow off a person’s head in one go. However, ordinary people who aren’t magicians do not have enough mana to condense and cannot apply it. So, even if they know the principles, ordinary people cannot use it. In fact, it is not easy for even magicians to use this level of magic.”

Irene nodded at Mulliman’s explanation.

Certainly, his theory was simple, but it was useless for a person who could not use mana to understand the principle. Irene observed the ring, then raised her doubts. “Then, is the magic stored in the ring infinite?”

“Oh, that’s a very good question. As expected of the future Grand Duchess.”

As if he were treating her as a child, Irene’s face turned red. 

“Did you know that mana flows through the human body?” Mulliman answered her with delight.

“Yes.” Irene nodded in understanding. She remembered that clearly from what she’d learnt at the academy. However, she knew that the flowing mana was weak, so it was no different from virtually nothing.

“The jewel embedded in this ring serves to collect and store the mana flowing through the body. The amount of mana flowing through the human body is only a small amount, but if you accumulate throughout the day, it becomes quite a large amount. Therefore, it takes about a day to recharge after casting one spell. If you don’t fill up the mana, even if you use attack magic, your power will be weakened. So you should always use magic only when you are sure and careful. If you fail, you’ll have to remain defenseless for a full day.” 

“Yes. I’ll keep that in mind.”

Listening to him, Irene knew that it was an important lesson to take note of. With just one hasty move, her life could be endangered.

It would be best not to come to such a situation…

But life probably won’t work out the way you want it to.
