[TIDK] 94 – Sweet Of You To Sell Me Out

Throughout her marriage, Viktor told her not to do anything unnecessary.

But she wanted to busy herself by being helpful.

Scarlett was wary of avoiding being faulted. Not because she thought she had to be proper, but because it would reflect on Viktor.

She thought it was her fault that she hurt her hand and caught a cold, that it was not helpful to Viktor, and that he did not love her because of this patheticness.

Scarlett said with a quick smile again.

“I’m a little dizzy. I think I need to lie down.”

At the beginning of her marriage, Scarlett was a wild goose. She worked as a maid from the age of twelve and suddenly became the de facto Madame of the Dumfelt family.

All she knew was to light a fire or clean the fireplace, and she found it challenging to calculate simple things, let alone manage money.

Her vernacular was that of a maid’s, and she acted like a maid employed by the Dumfelt family.

So Viktor thought that after he became a royal, Scarlett would not be able to play the role of his wife properly.

So he fixed her.

Viktor did not think there was a problem with how his mother taught him because he was made into an ideal royal figure by physical punishment that more or less resembled torture. The process of turning Scarlett Crimson, who had come from a lacking background and just turned eighteen, into Scarlett Dumfelt had to be strict.

Scarlett fled the study, ashamed of the fact that she was sick.

Only after she returned to her room did she let out a deep sigh. Then, she visited the doctor and had her hands treated.

After the treatment, Scarlett told Candice. “Viktor has become strange.”

“Oh, in what way?”

When Candice flinched and asked, Scarlett replied with seriousness.

“He keeps looking at me.”

“What?”

“He doesn’t usually do that; he does his work ...But also keeps looking at me, so it bothers me so much.”

“Hehe, it’s because he likes you...”

“No, there’s definitely something I’m doing wrong. I don’t know what it is.”

Scarlett agonised and soon got up and looked at herself in the mirror. Then she asked Candice.

“What’s the problem?”

“It’s not a problem. Really.”

“Well….”

Scarlett still looked suspicious.

It was strange for Scarlett but even more bizarre for others.

Scarlett had such an ordinary day that anyone would think she was an average person. It was Viktor who had a different day than usual.

He didn’t drink for the first time since his divorce and fell asleep in the same bedroom as Scarlett again.

The following day, Scarlett, who opened her eyes early, as usual, became shocked. She got out of bed when she found her ex-husband sleeping beside her.

“Viktor?”

Viktor then raised his upper body, frowning, and sat down. Scarlett, wide-eyed, looked around and asked.

“What’s going on? Uh, what happened?”

“You stormed in.”

“…I did?”

Scarlett had a puzzled look on her face. She muttered, at a loss for a while.

“You’ve been forgetting your divorce a lot lately...”

Viktor looked at her and was silent, and Scarlett paced by the bed with confusion. She muttered with pale lips as she tried to remember how she had come here and fallen asleep.

“What I remember is... Oh, right. Isaac, I think something’s wrong with Isaac….”

The more she tried to recall the memory, it disappeared from her grasp. When she tried to remember, she felt a stifling headache.

Scarlett leaned back against the wall because she couldn’t keep her body in check. Viktor stood in front of Scarlett.

“Why the Earl?”

“I don’t know. I don’t remember.” Scarlett murmured with difficulty.

Viktor laughed in a low voice. Then she turned her head against the wall and looked up at Viktor.

“I’m sorry, we’re divorced, and you can’t send me to the monastery anymore.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s easier now that we’re divorced.”

“What?”

“What, you don’t think I can do as I please?”

She couldn’t decipher his thoughts. She thought his eyes looked like those of an animal encountered in a foggy field at dawn.

She was scared that she couldn’t tell what he was thinking.

Are you trying to eat, watch me, or leave?

Scarlett’s fingertips began tapping in trepidation. Viktor noticed, but he didn’t move to comfort her.

Instead, he spoke as if to make amends.

“I’ll bring Isaac here, so rest. You don’t look well.”

“...where could you bring him?”

“I can bring him anywhere.”

“...”

The following words made her stop shaking.

Viktor now pulled Scarlett’s hand with a smile. Anyone would notice his displeasure.

He spread her fingers against his lips and kissed them.

“It’s so sweet of you to sell me out for Earl Crimson.”
