[TIDK] 93 – You Love Me, Don’t You

Scarlett, who opened her eyes early in the morning, was surprised to find Viktor sleeping next to her. Viktor grabbed her by the wrist as she hurried down the bed.

Scarlett’s shoulders trembled as he rarely grabbed her so suddenly. She turned around, and Viktor asked.

“Are you running away because you remember?”

“What do you mean to run away?”

She was confused by his question.

“Oh, then where are you going?”

“Ah, I think I have a fever. I’m afraid you’ll catch it.”

She had never seen Viktor sick throughout their marriage. So even more, wouldn’t it be her fault if he caught a cold?

Viktor stood up and wrapped his hand around her forehead. Scarlett’s body shrank because his hands were colder than she thought.

When Viktor, who pulled his hand off her, rose, Scarlett followed him. She felt unfamiliar with Viktor’s behaviour, which was somewhat different from usual.

Scarlett wrapped her hands around Viktor’s forehead. Her heart fluttered with the coldness left by his hand. Her eyes met with Viktor’s, who looked back and quickly lowered his hands.

 Then Viktor opened his mouth.

“You love me, don’t you?”

“Huh? Yes. Of course, I do. A lot.”

In addition, he asked questions that he had never asked before. There was not much time left for him to be recognised as a member of the royal family.

 ‘Perhaps that’s why.’

She couldn’t help but laugh.

Viktor grinned at her laugh.

“It looks like it.”

“...”

Scarlett, now rendered speechless, flushed with embarrassment.

“How the hell did she forget about her divorce?”

“There must be some kind of crazy energy in Dumfelt’s mansion.”

“Oh, that’s creepy....”

The servants at the Dumfelt Estate talked about “the woman who forgot about her divorce and came back to her ex-husband.”

They whispered whenever Scarlett wasn’t here, unbeknownst to the person embroiled herself.

The servants made the same breakfast as Viktor and Scarlett did when they were married. Throughout the breakfast, Scarlett acted as if she had been born into a noble family and brought up with excellent family education. It was so perfect that she couldn’t even feel she had a cold halfway through. But that perfection came as a more dreadful thing for the servants watching.

Viktor, on the other hand, did not respond to the situation. He hid all the calendars in the house and alerted the servants. He let Scarlett act on her own accord.

Scarlett, who had no idea what was happening around her, was busy all day. She carefully checked the dinner menu and prepared it for a charity event.

Scarlett, who had been so busy, also entered Viktor’s study. She originally came into Viktor’s sight from time to time when he was at home.

Scarlett, who had entered the study, was soon frightened by the roses she had grown in a greenhouse. She brought her clippers and began to cut out thorns with roses on the table. Viktor, who was reading on the sofa, looked toward her.

Scarlett spoke, making excuses.

“I’ll be right there. Strangely, there are thorns. I’m removing them all.”

Viktor returned to the book without answering, but Scarlett talked to him again.

“Rose-grooming is all the vogue amongst ladies these days. The person who grows the largest and prettiest rose wins. I’m going to raise them in a greenhouse, too.

“You don’t need to raise them yourself. We can get a gardener.”

“That’s a foul.”

Scarlett said. She smiled and asked Viktor.

“Right?”

“I don’t know about women’s work.”

“That’s true.”

Scarlett spoke and cut off the rose’s thorn with a pair of lace gloves that seemed impractical.

She suddenly looked at Viktor and asked with confusion.

“But did I just put a flower with thorns on display? It can’t be.”

“Leave it. I didn’t even know you were cutting thorns.”

Scarlett’s hand paused at his words. But soon, with a smile, her thorn-cutting hand began to move again.

“It must be perfect. It’s not good to leave any sharps or hazards on these roses.”

Scarlett stopped again while she was speaking. And Viktor looked at her side as she replaced the roses. There was blood on Scarlett’s gloves.

Viktor got up and grabbed her arm; in response, Scarlett tilted her head and looked at him.

There was still a drawn smile on her lips.

Viktor took off her gloves, revealing a long scratch on her hand. She was still feverish from the cold the day before. Viktor, who had been looking at her hand for a while, said, wrapping her hand in his handkerchief.

“If you’re sick, get treatment.”

“I’ll go get it now. I’m sorry.”

“What are you sorry about?”

“I think you’re angry….”

Scarlett muttered.
