[TIDK] 70 – Navy Uncle’s Ice Cream Shop

“….”

Because of her greed, Viktor had to give up his whole life and knocked down the ladder he was climbing.

“I’m sorry, Viktor.”

She buried her face in her lap and muttered. “Really, I’m so sorry….”

“….”

She was worried that Isaac was already working, and she felt guilty about Viktor, so she couldn’t concentrate well today.

“It would be more efficient to rest,” she murmured.

Scarlett immediately got ready to go out and went down the stairs.

Andrei stared at her while cleaning the display case.

“Where are you going?” He called out.

“Uhm,” Scarlett replied, “I’m going to hang out with Liv. And make sure Isaac is doing a good job, too... Are you all right?”

“Just come back early,” he responded, shortly.

Andrei didn’t nag Scarlett for some reason because he thought she needed a break. Only then did Scarlett playfully ask, relieved.

“Should I get you a gift?”

“My gift would be that my boss works hard and raises my salary,” he retorted.

“No romance, no romance,” she sighed.

“There’s nothing more romantic than a salary raise in the world,” at Andrei’s stoic words, Scarlett left the store with a pouty lip.

The place to chat with Liv was “Navy Uncle’s Ice Cream Shop,” run by Nicholas, a former sniper of the Rubied.

Nicholas ran out in joy as Scarlett entered.

“You’re finally here, Miss Scarlett! I’ve been waiting for you!” He cried.

His wife Mackenzie, who heard his loud voice, also came out of the store to greet her.

Seeing the couple’s overenthusiastic welcome, Scarlett nervously said. “I’m sitting down. What are you doing out here?”

“Oh, how can you be sitting in a corner when you’re here? Don’t you know how my husband became more energised and efficient after you fixed his prosthetic arm? It’s much easier to scoop ice cream!” Mackenzie shooed Scarlett away from her seat in the corner and after scurrying about making a buzz, she arranged a nice window seat for the two guests.

The basket with yellow flowers cut with soap and the milky tablecloth reminded her of the simple farmhouse scenery.

Liv lowered her voice and spoke.

“The store is so pretty, but it doesn’t match the name.”

“I know.”

Scarlett laughed in agreement.

In the meantime, ice cream came out. Scarlett, who was happy these days thanks to Isaac’s eyes getting better little by little, kept laughing while eating ice cream.

Liv, sitting face to face and eating ice cream, pinched Scarlett on the back of her hand.

“Phew, wake up,” she said cheekily.

“It hurts!” Scarlett yelped.

“Stupid...”

Nicholas, who was serving a variety of ice cream, flinched.

Scarlett Crimson was smiling like a normal girl over there, but not long ago, she was the heralded Madame of the Dumfelt family.

Nevertheless, people on 7th Avenue, including Liv, were not particularly wary of Scarlett.

There were even people who thought it was a farce.

Of course, it was an unsavoury divorce that everyone in the capital knew. But the personal impression laid on people was stronger than a divorce in name.

But in the opinion of those around Captain Viktor, Scarlett was still having considerable influence on Viktor. Perhaps Scarlett Crimson was the only one who had what Viktor Dumfelt called “power” in the first place.

But, what was clear was that Viktor wouldn’t stay still if he knew someone had touched Scarlett like that, even for fun.
