[TIDK] 120 – The Allure of Crazy Women

Viktor turned his attention back to Scarlett and said, "Why do you assume I'm skating with you to make her jealous?"

Scarlett hesitated for a moment before replying, "I don't know, maybe you want to feel good about yourself."

Viktor sighed, his gaze shifting to where Nina Hunter stood. "Nina Hunter is a woman who has caused trouble simply because I don't reciprocate her feelings. I don't need to go to such lengths and bring you out here in the middle of the night just to deal with her."

Just as Scarlett was feeling increasingly uncomfortable under Nina Hunter's watchful gaze, a man from the royal entourage approached Viktor with a polite greeting.

Viktor's expression remained unchanged as he stood in front of Nina, listening to her accusations. She confronted him about Scarlett and how she had witnessed Scarlett visiting his house, despite their divorce.

"How did you know?" Viktor's voice was calm, but his curiosity was evident.

Nina, feeling a growing sense of unease under Viktor's piercing gaze, responded, "I told you; everyone knows."

Viktor pressed further, his voice low and commanding, "Who told you?"

Nina hesitated, feeling the weight of his stare. She reluctantly answered, "It was at the ball. I don't remember exactly."

Viktor's eyes narrowed, his tone stern, "Remember then. Who was it?"

//LOL Viktor, he's so direct

Nina felt a surge of fear as Viktor's gaze scanned her as if she were a pirate under investigation. She stammered, "Are you ordering me?"

Viktor countered, his voice laced with a touch of menace, "Does it sound like a favour?"

//his sarcasm hahaha

Nina was left speechless, unsure of how to respond to his question. Finally, she mustered a reply, "I overheard it in a conversation among Mrs Harland's acquaintances."

Viktor nodded subtly, taking in the information. Then he calmly stated, "I see."

Nina, frustrated and flustered, continued to press him, questioning his responsibility toward Scarlett. She couldn't understand why he would take care of a woman she deemed as crazy.

Viktor's response was enigmatic yet filled with a hint of affection, "I have always been drawn to the allure of crazy women."

//I swear this man is portrayed as serious, but he's just naturally funny.

Viktor's gaze hardened as he listened to Nina's accusations, unaffected by her attempts to provoke him. He calmly replied, "You must have spread the word as well about my wife's nonsensical talk during her tea with you."

Nina's frustration grew, her voice tinged with disbelief. "Do you really mean it? She seemed like a deranged person. What are you doing? Do you pity her? Is that why?"

Viktor's eyes remained cold and distant, causing Nina to feel a wave of distress under his piercing stare. Despite her best efforts to tarnish his reputation, she couldn't deny that Viktor Dumfelt was still a venerated figure in society. The thought of Scarlett, a woman from a humble background, appearing alongside Viktor at social events was maddening to her.

Why is he still with her? Why?

Nina's voice pierced the air, interrupting Viktor's stride. "That coat, it's my favourite designer's coat."

Caught off guard, Viktor halted and glanced back, his eyebrows knitted in confusion. "So?" he replied, uncertain of her point.

A flicker of suspicion danced in Nina's eyes as she pressed on, her voice tinged with a hint of accusation. "Did you give it to her as a gift?"

Viktor's gaze shifted, his defences rising. "He said he was famous," he retorted, his tone defensive.

A perplexed frown etched itself on Nina's face as she countered, her voice laced with scepticism. "As far as I know, the designer doesn't make white coats."

A confident smirk tugged at Viktor's lips as he explained, a hint of pride in his voice. "That's precisely why I ordered it in white. It ensures there's only one like it."

Nina's mouth agape, she stared at him, rendered momentarily speechless by his audacity. But Viktor wasn't finished yet; he pressed on, his words dripping with an underlying threat. "I don't care what you say at social events, but it's wise not to overdo it. Remember, I have ears, too."

The implication hung in the air like a menacing cloud, leaving Nina uncertain. Without uttering a single word in response, she turned on her heel and walked away from the serene lake, leaving Viktor to resume his company with Scarlett.

//yass, you go Viktor

Scarlett's cheeks flushed with embarrassment as Nina's words about the coat echoed loudly for all to hear. Feeling self-conscious, she mustered the courage to inquire, her voice tinged with discomfort, "Is this coat by Miss Nina's favourite designer?"

Viktor met her inquiry with a nonchalant response, evading the direct question. "Every woman in society appreciates a good designer. So, how was your practice today?"

Scarlett nodded, regaining her composure. "Well, I'm getting the hang of it quickly," she replied, her tone carrying a hint of pride.

As Scarlett spoke, she glided across the ice, the memories of childhood rides flooding back to her. "It felt natural once I recalled those carefree moments."

Viktor couldn't resist a mischievous comment, a playful smirk on his lips. "That's too bad. It was quite entertaining to witness your occasional falls."

Indignant, Scarlett retorted, her voice filled with determination. "What's so funny about that? It's far more enjoyable to skate with grace and skill."
