“It was good that Lord Rixis warned me against your suspicious activities. I didn’t know you would barge in like this. But do you think you have enough power to get rid of us? It’s so saddening.”
He spoke in a sad tone, but his expression was ice cold. The Emperor had confidence in victory.
“You want to kill your father and go against the heavens. You deserve to die.”
“Even if I didn’t go against you, your Majesty would have still killed me in the end. Just like you killed your sister, all for the throne.”
Irene tensed up when she heard the word ‘sister’ come out of the Prince’s mouth. The Emperor felt her gaze and turned to Irene. His expression darkened for a moment.
“I thought they looked alike, but I didn’t expect her to be my sister’s daughter.”
“…”
“Irene Kristen, seeing you reminds me of my sister. She was such a beautiful person. People say that I killed my sister, but did you know? The truth is that your mother committed suicide for me.”
“…”
As he recalled the past, the Emperor’s golden eyes narrowed sadly.
“I was always terrified of the power that my foster-sister, who was adopted, had. I wasn’t just her family but her only friend. But I wanted to be the Emperor, so after she became the Empress, and for me, she killed her husband and committed suicide.”
“…”
“I know what kind of resentment you came with, but that was not what my sister wanted….”
“Your Majesty, don’t lie.”
A voice that was colder than ever came out of Irene’s mouth. As the air around her fluctuated, the Emperor bit his lip in surprise. Suddenly, the corners of his lips curled up.
“Oh, that’s right. You already knew.”
The Emperor chuckled like a child caught in an innocent lie. His smile, which did not match the situation, seemed very bizarre, but there was no change in Irene’s expression.
‘I’m so mad.’
She couldn’t believe that he killed her mother with his own hands, yet he lied about it shamelessly. Her anger rose to a point beyond her control, and the air around her began to form a storm. It was because the power of her spirits was in harmony with Irene’s feelings.
‘What the hell is this?’
The mercenary members were already aware of their existence, but the guards did not know about the spirits, so they had a hard time coming to terms with the strange aura that made their whole bodies shiver.
“Rivena’s ability, is it because she’s her daughter?”
“Your Majesty, is that the power of Rivena?”
When Count Chase asked the question, the Emperor replied nonchalantly.
“Rivena was a special person who could control nature’s powers.”
“A power of nature?”
“A natural ability? Isn’t that magic?”
“Is that even possible?”
At the Emperor’s words, there was a commotion among the knights. Because they had never heard of such abilities, it was hard to believe that all of that energy emanated from Irene’s tiny body, but that was enough proof of how mysterious these powers were.
“Did you perhaps believe your powers were enough to defeat me and came in here so recklessly? But aren’t you forgetting something? Why couldn’t Rivena kill me even with such a special power?”
“That’s because….”
Irene was about to answer when suddenly.
“This…”
Irene’s eyes widened because she felt the connection with her spirits being cut off as well as her connection with her ring.
‘On, Snow, Undi.’
She called the spirit’s names inwardly, but there was no response again. Confused, Irene looked at the happily smiling Emperor.
“The power of nature is no different from magic, and all magical powers in the Imperial Palace have been cut off.”
“How is that possible?”
Noel frowned and asked. He had never heard of the ability to block magic.
“Do you see why I wanted to become an Emperor now? Because nothing is impossible for the Emperor, that’s how Rivena was also helpless in front of me.”
“…Then.”
No matter how many times she tried, the spirits never responded. She couldn’t even use the magic of the ring. Irene, who had always relied on spirits and magic, had no choice but to be embarrassed by the situation.
She tried to hide her agitation, but the Emperor seemed to be looking forward to the battle, as he was smiling happily.
He commanded in a bored voice while lounging on his chair.
“Kill all the traitors.”
