[TVL] 77 – History

Luciano glared at Leandro, “Do you think I’m such an unthinking, stupid man? All at the discretion of the King and Prince of Armenia. Even though she was only a child, twelve-year-old Alana came to the country to help Serrat. She can’t even move her hands.”

He moaned lowly and ruffled his silver hair.

“What should I do? I want your opinion. I’m good at hurting people, but I’ve never cared for them. Alana thinks she’s entirely responsible for the destruction of Serrat. She wants to die. What can I do to make her change her mind? Alana wants to be killed by me. I can’t make a single mistake in the future. What’s the best way?”

“Sir Luciano, why don’t you tell her everything about Serrat? A word of forgiveness...”

”Don’t say ‘forgive’ so easily... I killed the royal family of Armenia. I killed a king and a prince. I still have a grudge against Armenia. I’ll never be able to get rid of it. I am the victim and the avenger of the country destroyed for Alana. Do you think Alana would still be my wife if she knew who I was? I don’t think so. I don’t want to change it now. I don’t want to lose the present.”

He wiped his eyes with his sleeve, staining the blue fabric.

“F**k…if I’d known about Alana’s past from the beginning, I wouldn’t have been so hard on her.”

The cold words and attitude of the past revived in his head. Everything became a subject of regret.

“.... Is that so?”

Luciano looked up at Leandro with a twisted expression. He was just in the backlight.

“You’ve changed so much. You used to be a pale man, but now you have learned to love like King Ismael. Your intercourse has shown me the difference between an act of sexual gratification and an act of love. For me, the kiss is a horrible curse, but you do not feel that way. When you once announced that you were going to have a child for the Queen, you were, to tell the truth, being very insolent, and I thought it was a confession of love...”

A single tear dripped from his violet eyes. Luciano did not try to wipe them away.

“We have questioned the Queen who turned you into a coward. We thought you were being cajoled. She is, after all, the Queen of your enemy, Armenia. Her cruelty is incalculable. So we talked about erasing her together. But when we went to the Queen’s room, she did not speak. She turned and knelt down herself. She crossed her arms in front of her chest, a sign of her willingness to obey. It was an act of obedience, a sign that she understood the murderous intentions of Leandro. At this moment, I thought to myself. The Queen has welcomed you into her royal family and brought us all into her castle. And when we appeared, she tried to let us kill her without resistance. It was as if she had known who we were all along.”

Then Frian, who had been silent until now, joined in.

“Luciano, you may remember that I once asked the Queen if we had ever met. I’ve always had a feeling of déjà vu about her. When she knelt down before us, I suddenly remembered something. I asked her about it. It was a bit of a forceful question, but she admitted it.”

“What did she admit?” Luciano asked.

Luciano wiped away his tears with the palm of his hand.

“We had met her in Serrat. She had dyed her hair black and was dressed as a boy named Lupe... She was our benefactor. If she had not helped us, none of us would be alive.”

Luciano’s ears perked up as he listened to Frian’s words. The knights of Serrat, including Frian and Leandro, had bravely fought when Teges attacked the castle. Most of them died, but about three hundred survived and were put in the dungeons. They were to be killed at once by drawing water from the river.

However, there was one person who appeared before them. It was a dark-haired boy named Lupe. Lupe was being carried on his back by a man who ordered him to be released from prison. Lupe’s face had been beaten to a pulp, but he had striking green eyes. It was said that Frian could never forget the look in his eyes.
