[TIDK] 90 – Rewind One Year

Scarlett nervously looked at Viktor’s face.

It was already past midnight. When she arrived home, Viktor had gone to bed for a long time.

She originally knew that a man who knew nothing but success and honour would not wait for her; for his wife to return home late.

Still, servants, including Blythe, seemed somewhat surprised that she had returned home after midnight. But Blythe quickly regained composure and said with a smile as usual.

“You must be tired, but you’d better come and see the Master.”

She didn’t want to wake Viktor, who was already asleep. It was clear that Viktor would not be interested in her when she returned home. Nevertheless, Blythe pushed her so hard that she knocked on the bedroom door.

Viktor, who opened the door at the sound of a knock, looked at Scarlett silently while explaining why she was late. Scarlett, talking to herself, reached out to Viktor’s pyjama button, which was half done.

“It’s colder now. You’re going to catch a cold.”

Her husband sometimes believed in his healthy body and wore thin like this. Of course, it was her who was wrapped up in the cold. But she was still worried.

The height difference was so big that she stood up on her toes to button them for him. Scarlett’s hands were in Viktor’s.

“You don’t have to care for me like a mother.”

When he mentioned his mother, he was usually in a bad mood.

Scarlett now looked up at Viktor out of concern. Viktor didn’t let go of her hand.

“Viktor, hand.”

It wasn’t until Scarlett informed him that Viktor slowly let go of her hand. Scarlett felt embarrassed.

Of course, she had never been out so late to get home at this time. But she didn’t think Viktor would mind if she were late. But now that she saw Viktor’s reaction, she thought he was upset that she came late.

Scarlett turned her head to the side, feeling the unprovoked desire in his eyes. She couldn’t meet his gaze for some reason.

Then Viktor asked.

“Why are you avoiding me?”

Scarlett shook her head quickly at his question. “I didn’t avoid you.”

It was rare that her husband was like this to her. How could she know how to act in this situation?

“It’s late, so go to bed. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”

After saying that, as Viktor turned around, Scarlett inadvertently grabbed his arm, but he pulled it away in surprise.

He hated his mother and was obsessed with the royal blood she had given him. Therefore, like any royal family, he also hated it if someone touched his body suddenly. But fortunately, tired, Viktor looked back at her without saying much.

“What is it?” He asked.

“I’m late, but don’t stay angry, please. I always can’t sleep well when you go to the sea. I don’t know what’s going on in the sea. I’m nervous thinking about you every day,” Scarlett quivered. She wanted to reach out to him, but was afraid he would pull back again.

Viktor’s hair and clothes were messy. He had just woken up.

The tension in the air broke.

Perhaps because of the mess, Scarlett kept talking as if she had a chance today.

Viktor was a member of the state when he was in the Navy, but in his pyjamas, he seemed a little bit like her, messy and casual. 

When she continued to whine, he paused at her pitiful appearance and spoke.

“You could have come back a day late without notice,” Viktor sighed.

“I know,” she mumbled.

Scarlett became anxious when Viktor answered meekly. Reading a little of her anxiety, Viktor reached out for her. He held her hand lightly and continued. “But don’t do that anymore.”

“Huh? Oh, yes...” Scarlett flinched and nodded.

She thought her husband’s words and actions were strange today. 

‘I wonder what happened.’

Viktor was a person who fitted the word “cold”, to put it. Most of the time, he wouldn’t bother. He was always arrogant.

Since Viktor didn’t hug her voluntarily, Scarlett buried her face in his arms as if she still had a chance with him. 

She could feel eyes staring at her from behind. She turned her head, and all the servants, including the butler, looked anxious.

What was wrong with them?

At first, she liked Viktor’s dishevelled appearance, but when she looked at him, she thought something was off.

I’ve been living with him for two years, but maybe he’s still irate that I haven’t discovered it yet.

When Scarlett was worried, Viktor covered her eyes with his hands. And when he removed them again, all the servants were gone.

Scarlett felt something was wrong, but she was caught on guard by Viktor’s arms around her waist. 

She unravelled like a flower seed blown in the wind.
