[TIDK] 81 – Out Of Your Goddamn Mind

He would not have to put her back in the monastery while divorced, but the fear she experienced then, could not escape her.

Cold, extremely rational –  he always made Scarlett feel ashamed of her behaviour. Even the way she was in love seemed exaggerated in front of him and she felt like an appalling clown.

Am I the one who’s crazy? Will it really help if I act strangely in this situation?

Scarlett slowly let go of Viktor’s hand. She said in a trembling voice.

“Then I really...I’m out of my mind.” Her hand fell weakly under the table. “I guess I’m crazy.”

Scarlett muttered and laughed in vain. She lifted herself up from her seat. “Viktor, I’m off.”

“Okay.”

Viktor replied, he sounded tired.

He pulled out a cigarette and bit it.

Scarlett felt dizzy. The burning butt of the cigarette and the hazy smoke wafted into the air.

After a long time of suffering from his mother, it was revealed once again that he had married a crazy woman, in front of the royal police.

Nina Hunter, the top socialite, and his ex-girlfriend, had dug up his dirty linen.

Viktor smoked to allay his anger, and Scarlett bowed to Nina and Hughan, bidding them farewell.

She ran out of there frantically.

Scarlett paused only to get her shoes as she rushed out of the mansion. After finding her shoes again and wearing them, she stopped running and walked with a blank face.

After arriving at the tram station, she sat on the bench and looked on, as they passed. Eventually, when she was informed by the station staff that the last tram had arrived, she got up. Then she murmured to herself as she walked to the tram.

“I’m the one who’s crazy. It’s not the world.”

She still had some faith in herself. It was unfair that the memory of the day of interrogation did not return, and it was unfair that this happened.

But now that I think about it, I’m the only one who’s weird in the situation

She talked to herself repeatedly, trying to wake herself from her delusion.

“You’re out of your goddamn mind, Scarlett Crimson.”

It was time to accept that fact.

Scarlett returned to the watch store, stunned. Andrei, who was guarding the store, scolded her as soon as she walked through the door.

“Why are you coming so late when you’re picking items for the auction? I was wondering if I should pick you up.”

In the middle of his speech, he seemed to have noticed Scarlett’s condition, but he had to finish the sentence because of his indifferent personality.

Scarlett said blankly. “Why are you still at work?”

“There’s no one who wants to stay so late. But what about my salary if the boss gets into an accident somewhere?” Scarlett smiled faintly at Andrei’s words.

“I’m sorry. I’m getting off work now. You can come in late tomorrow. I’ll open the store.”

Scarlett said and collapsed in front of the fireplace on the first floor. Andrei, who was just about to leave, sighed and squatted beside her and asked.

“What happened?”

Scarlett then faced Andrei. Still, she smiled faintly, as if she was relieved to see the face of the person on her side. Then she took a deep breath and grumbled.

“I thought I remembered the day they interrogated me. But that wasn’t it.”

“Really?” Andrei raised a brow.

“Yes, a royal police officer, Hughan Hunter, was at the Dumfelt estate today. I suddenly remembered seeing him during the interrogation. That’s why, but he said he wasn’t in the capital at the time,” Scarlett said. She still felt confused and complicated about the whole situation.

Andrei frowned before speaking.

“Isn't he lying?”

“Huh?” Scarlett looked up in surprise.

“The Royal Police,” Andrei said matter-of-factly.

Scarlett paused.

“…Do you trust me?” she asked.

“What are you talking about? Then do you think I can just trust that nobody?” Scarlett’s eyes widened when Andrei  retorted, as if her question was absurd in the first place.

Her eyes, stained scarlet by the hue of the fireplace, shone warm as the sun.

She started laughing out loud.

Andrei asked, incredulous. “Why are you laughing?”

“I don’t know. I was just crazy on my own before, but when you tell me that, Andrei, my frozen heart melts.”

Scarlett smiled at him.

“I don’t like such cheesy words,” he snorted.

“I know, I know,” Scarlett said, glowing. “Okay. Take a rest tomorrow. I’ll take care of the store.”

“Paid, right?” Andrei was quick.

“No, it’s unpaid,” Scarlett smiled.

“Hey, welfare is awesome. I don’t rest without pay. I’ll be at work tomorrow at twelve o’clock, see you.”

Andrei said and stood up first, and Scarlett laughed.
