[TIDK] 75 – Tiara

Scarlett walked briskly to the tram station. There, she recalled Andrei’s joke and looked down at the hem of her skirt. It was never dirty, but it was clear that she would hear a scolding if she unluckily encountered Viktor at the Dumfelt mansion.

Perhaps because she was sitting all the time working, Scarlett felt dizzy in the long-awaited sunshine. Yet she felt warm in her heart when she thought Isaac could see the sun.

Blythe welcomed Scarlett when she arrived at Dumfelt’s around two o’clock, thinking she would leave before Viktor returned to the mission.

“You’re here, miss! Thank you very much for coming, even though it must have been burdensome and difficult.”

Scarlett looked embarrassed because he was ecstatic, albeit she didn’t come here to do much.

“Viktor wouldn’t know if anything was missing anyway.….”

“Yes, I think so, too. But I’m afraid I’ll be worried about selling something important unintentionally.”

“That’s true. It’s a heavy responsibility.”

Scarlett nodded as if she understood. Firstly, she headed to the dressing room of the separate house that she once used.

The spaces that Scarlett used remained the same every time she came. It hasn’t changed since she went out with only a few things she cared about.

The dressing room was also hung with the clothes Scarlett had left behind. Dresses followed trends, so she didn’t put them on the market because they would cost more to repair than to buy at auction.

Scarlett turned around to Candice, who walked after her with a pen and a notepad.

“You should sell all the dresses I left here.”

“Oh, alright.”

Candice responded outwardly but inwardly hid her concerns.

It was Viktor who ordered her not to touch her belongings. Scarlett didn’t know how much work it would take to keep her space intact.

Some of the servants called the room the “Late Wife’s Room.” It was only when a beloved wife died and it became an empty room that the act of leaving the room as if it were filled was convincing.

Scarlett was alive and divorced for betraying each other’s hearts. Still, many people were curious about why he wanted to leave the room as it was, but no one could ask.

Scarlett headed for the jewellery box inside the dressing room. Even if it was a jewellery box, it could be used as a table. Scarlett, who opened all the doors of the jewel box with multiple doors, was troubled.

“Well….”

The Dumfelt family was the family of the exiled princess and the owner of the abandoned land. There was no history and tradition because the family was hastily created for Marina Irène. Therefore, the Dumfelt family could not be prestigious.

Viktor consistently bought things with history and tradition to fill the weakness at auctions. Scarlett’s birthday, and even their wedding anniversary, became the excuse for Viktor to purchase such things.

The jewellery and furniture Viktor gave Scarlett were all used by prominent figures in history. He believed that these jewels would create the prestige of the Dumfelt family. Perhaps that was the case in practice.

It wouldn’t be possible even in a hundred years.

//It’s so sad…all this has been beaten into him by Marina who conditioned and abused him to restore her glamour and honour, and now it’s become his life’s mission ;; poor Viktor

Those jewels were kept in separate vaults, so the jewellery boxes didn’t have much in them compared to the enormous size. Now that she recalled, a famous singer even used this jewellery box.

As Scarlett was seriously agonising, Candice, waiting behind her, spoke up. “Can’t you choose what’s in the safe?”

“Oh, yes. Everything in the safe has a history, so it’s hard to auction. Viktor won’t like it.”

Scarlett replied and stroked the jewellery box.

“Sometimes, I feel sorry for my husband. Hanging onto honour like that.”

“Do you feel sorry for the young master? Oh, my goodness, all the poor people are dead.”

Scarlett laughed at Candice’s comment.

“Isn’t that, right?”

She looked at the jewellery box one more time and spoke.

“But you know what. I still have a family in the world that loves me.”

“You have us too, young lady.” Scarlett laughed at Candice’s words.

“Well, when I think about it, yes. I loved you guys so much. People are a bit… the betrayal.... I’ll forgive them for that.”

“I know. How long did people have to gossip? It’s not like you made it up.”

Scarlett kept laughing when Candice sided with her.

Scarlett finally found something for charity when looking at the jewellery box.

“Oh, this would be nice.”

Candice was embarrassed to see what she had taken out. “Are you going to put it out?”

It was a tiara that Scarlett wore when she married. It was the only new product she had.
