[TIDK] 67 – The Moon (1)

Viktor dropped Scarlett off the carriage when he saw Andrei coming out of the store.

“Young master?”

A few days ago, Scarlett was briefed on Andrei by his men, who escorted her around the store.

[He’s extraordinarily strong.]

-A competent person who worked for the Dumfelt family.

That’s what Blythe had explained about Andrei. Although his personality was a bit cold, his skills were not bad.

It was rather suspicious to Viktor why a property manager would be so disciplined. But for now, he couldn’t afford to think that far. Scarlett’s condition was the problem right now.

Viktor knew that being around her wouldn’t help Scarlett calm down.

He turned around right after Andrei helped Scarlett.

Scarlett looked back at Viktor’s carriage. Noticing her gaze, Andrei said, “You’re going upstairs, aren’t you?”

“Huh? Yeah. Oh, I’m fine.” She was brought back to her senses.

Scarlett stood upright and told Andrei with a smile. “Thank you.”

Andrei silently judged Scarlett. As much as he was unsatisfied, he was relieved that Scarlett was with Viktor. It was fortunate that there was someone who voluntarily wanted to stay with her.

Scarlett sat in the studio chair for a while and soon heard a cane. On cue, Isaac entered the studio, assisted by Andrei.

“Scarlett.”

Isaac said with a bright face. “Sir Viktor asked me to stay here….”

“Oh,” she said.

Scarlett quickly wiped away the tears and smiled. “Welcome.”

“It smells just like our parents’ studio,” Isaac spoke pleasantly.

Scarlett cheerily told Andrei. “Thank you, Andrei.”

Then Andrei whispered, “If I had known the headquarters was such a dangerous place, I would have followed you.”

Of course, the headquarters were a household name, and had a reputation amongst the public. It was unfathomable for an act of violence to occur, much less instigated by Arnold, a Crimson supposedly with entitlement to inherit.

“I didn’t know this would happen in a place with many eyes,” Scarlett spoke lightly. He knew he would feel guilty about it.

Andrei looked somewhat displeased but went back down to the first floor to take care of the store without saying any more.

Isaac was looking around cheerily, as usual. Scarlett gathered her energy and sat next to him.

She wanted to see Isaac’s eyes, but she couldn’t say that because she knew how hard he tried to hide it from her.

Isaac held Scarlett’s hand and asked anxiously. “Why are your hands so cold?”

“Oh, I’ve been out for a while,” Scarlett spoke, as chirpy as she could muster.

“More importantly, let’s go out and eat something delicious,” she smiled, even though he could not see.

“Something delicious?” Isaac asked.

“Yes, and let’s go to a perfume store,” she said.

“Oh, now that I think about it, should I be a perfumer or something? I can discern aromas very well,” Isaac responded.

“Oh, that’s a good idea,” Scarlett agreed.

“Right?”

Scarlett felt like she would die of suffocation, but she talked, using gestures that Isaac wouldn’t see.

Scarlett fell asleep past midnight while Isaac sat still in his chair and closed his eyes. He couldn’t sleep because of the pain in his eyes.

He had held Scarlett’s hand during their whole conversation, but it never warmed up. Scarlett seemed to have finally given up on his sight when talking about food and nostalgia.

Isaac thought perhaps Viktor or Arnold told Scarlett about his eyes. Isaac clenched his fist.

“I want to look forward.”

Scarlett resigned because she didn’t want to hurt him anymore, but he was against it. Far from surrendering, the desperation only grew. For a moment, his eyes throbbed again. Isaac covered his eyes with one hand and his mouth with the other.

Scarlett was asleep. She would wake up if he made any noise here.

Isaac endured groaning, scratching his cheek and kept his mouth shut. At some point, however, he felt like someone was cutting his eyes with a knife. A groan escaped his lips.
