[TIDK] 59 – Viktor’s Handiwork

After all, Scarlett had been happy even if he didn’t do anything.

He was the same, but if her love had simmered, was there any other way?

In the end, in his opinion, the only solution was divorce.

As he expected at first, he didn’t fit in with marriage.

If there were variables, Scarlett Dumfelt was a person who said she loved too much, and there were many pretty women in the world. To Scarlett Dumfelt, it was wrong to think that she was dispensable.

She was breathtakingly beautiful when she handed out the documents for divorce, and as written in the prenuptial contract, she was crazy pretty on the day when she only took her things without touching Viktor’s accumulated wealth.

Until she left and the door closed, Viktor thought the divorce was nothing.

He didn’t know how ridiculous it was, to be a stranger to Scarlett Dumfelt.

When she left, his one sanctuary quickly became desert-like, and so did his life.

He shouldn’t have felt this because she had betrayed him. It was her betrayal, otherwise, if she didn’t feel any guilt, she would never return to him. He needed her guilt. He needed her.

He looked at her wrist for a moment, then took out an ointment and applied it to the wound. Scarlett flinched but didn’t wake up.

Viktor applied the medicine and bandaged it, and when he saw it, he frowned.

“…I can’t do it right.”

Since he had never done this before, the bandages were a mess. He thought she would wake up while he tied and untied it again, then re-tied it. Eventually, he left it and brought the book he had been reading on the sofa. He sat down on the bed, and started reading.

Scarlett was not one to sleep deeply. However, the thought of her continuous hours in the studio, to which she could attribute her weak physique, had escaped her.

The day before, she had worked tirelessly, so she woke up only when the sun was high.

Still sleepy, Scarlett rose from the bed and casually looked at her wrist. It was bandaged.

“...”

Scarlett stared at it and muttered. “I guess I did it in my sleep.”

Otherwise, how could her handiwork be so rough?

Considering the fantastic quality of sleep, it was not strange to say that she slept with a bandage wrapped awfully.

There was no one else who would do this except for herself. Viktor wasn’t the kind of person to do this, and he was good at everything. Thus he couldn’t have tied it so awkwardly.

After getting ready to go out, she left the bedroom, looking at the bandage. As she left the building to collect gravel, the pleasant autumn sun shone brilliantly into the Southern canyon.

Each Air Force unit was engaged in training, including Viktor. She watched his back, regal and strong.

Viktor Dumfelt looked like an elegant stallion dressed in a magnificent naval uniform. The black pants tailored to his physique were sleek at the calves, while the back thighs were perfectly muscular: an eye-watering sight for a lady.

“Good morning.”

“Good morning!”

The soldiers passed by, greeting Scarlett with chirpy and bright voices. Everyone seemed encouraged that there was an engineer who could fix the engine.

Viktor looked back at Scarlett and opened his mouth. “I’m leaving at dawn tomorrow. Go back to sleep.”

“I’m going to pick up the materials.”

“Let your men do it.”

“Your men, not mine.”

At Scarlett’s words, Viktor clicked his tongue.

Viktor beckoned someone far away. Soon one of his men pulled a horse out of the stable. It was a stunning black stallion.

Viktor picked her up, and then he rode behind her. “It’s far.”

“Okay.”

Scarlett decided not to refuse Viktor’s help anymore. It was a waste of time.

Scarlett had never ridden a horse except for a pony when she was young, so she felt awkward and uneasy about riding it. But she soon found stability after the horse started.

Viktor held her waist in one arm, which felt like being tied to a steel bar. He had a body that seemed to transcend human beings. Scarlett had her eyes tightly closed and opened them as she became accustomed.

As Viktor leaned down a little, their proximity made Scarlett flush. She could feel his heat pressed against her back.

After a while, the two arrived near the river, which flowed beneath the waterfall.

Scarlett rolled up her sleeves and said, looking at the bandage on her wrist, getting off the horse.

“It’s untied.”

Viktor turned his head, noticing it had unravelled.

Scarlett asked.

“Is my memory lacking? This- did I wind it in my sleep?”

“…I did it.”

“Don’t lie to me; someone good at everything like you couldn’t have wound it so badly.”

“Sorry to disappoint you.”

Scarlett blinked in astonishment. Then she looked at the bandage again.

“Wow, it’s great on second thought,” she praised lightly before leaving for the river.

She thought she heard him laugh behind her, but it was unusual for him to laugh, and thus she thought it must be her imagination.
