[TIDK] 111 – Marina: The Lunatic and the Bait

Everyone's gaze turned to the king. Albert continued, “Hasn't Viktor wanted to be accepted by the royal family because of Marina, his mother? Then we should invite Marina to dinner.”

Adam choked up and said, “Father, she's a lunatic. Didn't you hear about the scene she caused at Nina's party?'

To which Adam's daughter, Ellina, replied, “If we can take the lunatic for a day and change her mind, let's do it. Viktor is someone we should not treat as an enemy. Hasn't he been friendly to the royal family until now?”

Then Akkin, Ellina's sister who’d recently married, spoke up.

"If Aunt Marina is here, do you know what she's going to do?”

"Is Aunt Marina the problem? We can't predict Viktor's behaviour.”

Many discussions were had, but ultimately, there was no good answer beyond inviting Marina Dumfelt and persuading Viktor Dumfelt to come out as a guardian. Once the answer was decided, Adam Irene immediately wrote an invitation and sent it to his nephew, Viktor Dumfelt. And Viktor Dumfelt immediately wrote back.

[My mother is not feeling well. Adieu.]

It was a refusal.

Adam Irene, who received the reply, frowned. He only thought about whether he could invite the lunatic to his mansion or not, and never even considered the possibility that Viktor would refuse.

Adam Irene glared at his son, Yuli Irene, who was responsible for sending the invitation. Adam said, "Viktor's mood doesn't seem to improve easily. Your restraint went too far.”

"...I'm sorry.”

"How do you plan to solve the problem you caused?"

Yuli spoke, trying to contain his frustration.

"I'll figure out a way to fix it.”

"Make sure you do.”

Adam Irene grew up without any shortcomings, so sometimes he acted on his own, and he often showed his anger openly to his son. Beyond appearing arrogant, it sometimes seemed like a childish tendency. It was a personality trait that most of the Irene family members had.

The next day, Andrei immediately returned his police badge. The Royal Police Headquarters was surprisingly quiet, and the fact that Viktor Dumfelt was behind Scarlett's disappearance did not change their attitude towards Andrei. Hughan looked disappointed as he examined the badge that Andrei had returned.

"Is there no other way, Hylum?"

"I have to quit the Royal Police if I want Viktor Dumfelt to spare me. It's a miracle that I came back alive in the first place. And besides, they have to accept me anyway.”

Andrei spoke casually. "How do I become a double agent for Viktor Dumfelt?"

"What else are you going to do?"

Hughan accepted the badge as if he had no other choice and handed Andrei a confidentiality agreement to sign. Andrei signed it and said, "I'll keep working at the watch store. I'm more used to being a watch store employee than a police officer now.”

Hughan smiled as if he found it ironic. "That's funny. If you didn't drug Scarlett while on duty, you wouldn't be working there, would you?"

"That's right.”

Andrei found it amusing to see Hughan laugh.

He laughed too. After ruining a person like that. He received relatively humane treatment in the navy building that was like a devil. But it was nothing compared to being assigned Scarlett Crimson, knowing that the Royal Police wouldn't remember. He didn't know how dirty the water was when he was inside*. When he came out, there was a putrid stench.

After Andrei finished signing, he asked, "What are you going to do with Viktor Dumfelt? Since I found out that he put me in there, the Royal Police have been gearing up for war.”

"That's really frustrating too.”

Hughan said. "Viktor Dumfelt has no weakness.”

"Yes, I know that very well from seeing him up close.”

Hughan nodded his head in agreement with Andrei's words. "My sister said she would take care of it herself if she needed to, but the Crown Prince opposed it. That eccentric is pretty in the eyes of others.”

Viktor Dumfelt, upon learning that Nina was meeting with Yuli Irene, chose to marry another woman, so there was a belief that his marriage was impulsive. However, the marriage that started impulsively lasted longer than expected. Hughan was watching his younger sister suffer from heartache as she watched the marriage.

"My sister threw herself away, even thinking she could become the leading actress of a tragic drama.”

"But I can understand the situation.”

"Is that so?" After chatting for a while, Andrei bowed slightly and bid farewell. "Then I'll be on my way. I guess I won't be coming here again, it's a shame.”

"I'm the one who's disappointed. You've worked hard so far.”

Hughan personally got up and opened the door, and after Andrei said goodbye again, he left. After Andrei left the police station, Hughan told his subordinate. "If we kill him right after he leaves the royal police, it will be obvious that we did it, so handle it slowly.”

"Yes, understood.”

"He's not someone to be taken lightly. Don't underestimate him.”

“Yes sir.”
