181 – Protect The Crimson Legacy
“I’ve been too short-sighted.”
As she spoke. The carriage arrived at the nearby Crimson mansion. Fortunately, the zealots hadn’t appeared yet, and the house was quiet. Even if they were arrested now, the zealots, who would only be encouraged by the royal family, would surely be released within a day and resume their activities.
Andrei murmured, “When you see those guys, don’t you just want to leave Salantier and go away?”
“Andrei, can you hear what you’re saying?”
“Ordinary people would think that way. It’s frustrating. The royal family, the police, and even the citizens, they’re all unbelievably foolish. I don’t understand why Boss, you have to go through all this for those people. If you went to Vestina, you’d be treated much better.”
While listening to him, Scarlett frowned and asked Andrei in a teasing tone, “Are you a spy for Vestina?”
“After working for the royal police, would I go undercover for Vestina? No, I haven’t been promoted that much.”
“Ugh, you’re so frustrating. I’m annoyed.”
“But…”
“But there’s no choice.”
“There is, Lady Crimson.”
“No.”
Scarlett smirked dismissively.
“That’s not my choice. The Crimson family received its title because of our expertise. As a reward for that title, we can’t leave Salantier. It’s a promise we made. So I don’t have a choice.”
“…”
“And the citizens of Salantier aren’t foolish.”
Andrei seemed full of complaints but turned his head out of the window without saying a word. After a moment, he couldn’t help but chuckle.
“That’s true.”
In response to his words, Scarlett looked out the window. People nearby had come out and were guarding the mansion. As Scarlett stepped out of the carriage, they gathered around.
“Don’t worry, miss. We’ll be sure to protect the shop and here.”
“We’ll stop those lunatics!”
Scarlett blinked in confusion and then smiled after a moment. The arriving escorts got off the carriage, and one of them said to Scarlett:
“The tram drivers have gathered to protect the shop. These guys have strong builds, so the zealots can’t match their strength.”
“Oh…”
Scarlett smiled again. It was only then that the people around noticed cuts and bruises on her face, and they exclaimed:
“Miss, you’re injured on your face!”
“Oh my, what if there’s a scar on your beautiful face…”
Scarlett touched her injured face with her hand and quickly headed for the mansion. She was nervous about entering the mansion, which had been taken from her for a long time. But at the moment, there was no other place to go.
As she entered the house, the butler rushed to call Isaac. Isaac had been busy with paperwork all day and hadn’t been aware of the situation outside.
“What’s going on?”
“Miss has arrived.”
“Scarlett?”
Isaac had been preoccupied with paperwork and hadn’t been paying attention to the situation outside all day.
He rushed down the stairs in just a waistcoat, quickly entering the lobby where Scarlett was standing. He looked surprised and asked her, “Scarlett, what’s going on?”
“Well… It’s a bit of a long story.”
Isaac gestured for her to come inside quickly. He hurriedly guided Scarlett to the sofa and gently touched her bruised cheek.
“How did you get hurt like this?”
“It’s okay. It’s not that painful.”
“Isn’t it?”
Worried, Isaac motioned for a servant to bring some medicine. He examined her forehead, which had been hit by a stone, gently disinfected the area, and applied some ointment. Luckily, it wasn’t a major injury, but Isaac’s expression was still filled with concern.
Amidst all this, Scarlett found herself strangely proud that Isaac was taking care of her now, despite always being the one who looked out for him. She smiled bashfully.
“You’re really like an older brother now.”
“Wasn’t I always like an older brother?”
Isaac replied with a teasing tone as he finished applying the ointment and pulled his hand away. He then asked, “So, what happened?”
“Oh, right…”
Scarlett quickly brought up the newspaper and handed it to Isaac. The article discussed her endeavour to build an aircraft.
As Isaac read the article closely, his expression changed.
“Scarlett Crimson!”
“Just from this article, the attack from Vestina will be postponed.”
Isaac muttered, clearly impressed by what he had read.
“What a bold move, Scarlett.”
“Hopefully, this article will deter Vestina’s aggression for a while.”
“Why are you taking such risks? What has the world ever done for you to make you go to these lengths? Why do you keep getting involved in such dangerous endeavours, seriously…”
Isaac sighed deeply. He covered his face with his hands, shook his head for a moment, and then began speaking.
“Last time was the same.”
“Huh?”
“You went to the headquarters for me. If Viktor hadn’t been there, you could have been in serious trouble.”
I fell in love with this book when it was still ongoing and read it during COVID, anticipating each chapter’s release. I’ve been translating this book since 2020! I put a lot of time and effort over the years, hours on end manually translating and typing, and comparing with the original book so that my nuances are right, so that my translations are good (five years coming for TIDK).
Thank you so much for reading!! 💖 If you’re interested in reading ahead, you can support me by tipping me on Ko-fi, or subscribing (over 200+ chapters). I’m a solo translator for about 7 years now, and operate all the projects here by myself. I’ve had ups and downs over the years, and 2025 hit hard (both in my personal and professional life). I’d really appreciate your support—it motivates me! <3
I run this site ad-free, and these translations are kept alive out of my love for reading and sharing quality translations with you. Every bit of support helps with hosting, server, and domain costs. Thank you so much for keeping this project going!
