[TIDK] 106 – Pitiful Boss
Andrei came to his senses for a moment when he got sprayed with water on his face. He was sitting on a chair, handcuffed.
He looked at the coat of arms on the wall and realised that he was at a naval base.
Viktor smoked as he waited for Andrei to wake up so the interrogation room was filled with cigarette smoke.
He said, “Should we hurry up? Scarlett asked me to send you back to her.”
He said that, but Viktor seemed to be in no hurry. After a while, he pushed a cigarette box toward Andrei, and Andrei also grabbed a cigarette with his handcuffed hand.
“How did you find out? My fake identity was perfect.”
“My men reported that your proficiency in combat is the signature of a trained Royal Police officer.”
“…Ah.”
“After that, I also discovered that you asked the police to find some people.”
He knew this would happen. Andrei lamented over doing such a thing, aware of the risks.
“What about the masked young man?”
“The Navy.”
“It was a worthwhile gamble.”
“I have to kick him out or else we are going to lose to the police.”
Andrei laughed wildly in response.
“Are you going to kill me?”, he asked.
“I told you, Scarlett asked me to send you back.”
Whatever the case, Andrei looked satisfied after the long-awaited cigarette.
“The boss doesn't like the smell of cigarettes, so I've stopped smoking recently.”
“So, she doesn't like it.”
Viktor responded to his remark, but Andrei felt as though he was being pressured.
Viktor asked, “So. Why are you near my ex-wife?”
“I was monitoring you, Master, but the boss scouted me. I went because I was greedy.”
“Scarlett just happened to scout a royal police officer out of all the employees?”
“Yes.”
“You didn’t plan it together?”
At Viktor's words, Andrei laughed and said,
“Actually, that's right. We planned it. We are on the same team. Can’t a woman who betrayed you once do it again? If there’s any information she can sell about you, he will try to sell it to the royal police. She's a great liar.”
Viktor beckoned to someone behind Andrei at his sarcastic response. His men grabbed Andrei's head and rammed it onto the desk with a loud noise.
Andrei groaned and continued.
“Why, why?”
“I don't like your attitude.”
“I told you as it is. If not, why? Do you also think that the boss is not a cunning person who can lie so naturally and is analytic enough to mask her heart?”
“…”
“You don't know what to do because you like her?”
Perhaps it was at Viktor's command, but the hand pressing his head eased off.
Andrei murmured, “The boss was in all kinds of trouble, so I got caught up in them as well. Unfortunately....”
As Viktor walked over, Andrei stopped talking under the immense pressure. Viktor threw the cigarette on the floor, rubbed it out with his shoe, and yanked Andrei's head up by his chin.
“So what were you trying to gain as a spy?”
“…I don't know.”
“I'm not going to kill you.”
His thumb squeezed on Andrei's lower jaw. Andrei struggled with the pain of his tooth being pushed out bare. Blood dripped heavily out his mouth.
“You know what, don't you?”
As Viktor moved his thumb to another tooth, he asked childishly.
Andrei gasped as he said, “Don't you know?”
“In that case, did you intend to kill me?”
“No way.”
“Was Scarlett cooperating with you?”
“Did the boss cooperate?”
Andrei smiled broadly and continued speaking as cold sweat dripped down his face.
“How could she have helped me kill you? Someone who's so in love.”
As he said that, he soon burst out laughing at what was funny.
“Do you know? I do all the money-related work at the watch shop. I am also in charge of managing the boss’s assets. If I put my mind to it, I can take everything and the boss will not even know.”
“…”
“The boss trusts others like that, but others don’t trust the boss.”
He murmured, shaking his head.
“…I feel sorry for the boss.”

“I feel sorry for the boss.”
Late at night, standing by the window of his office, Viktor was struggling with Andrei's words that were engraved in his mind.
Strangely enough, that one sentence did not leave his head.
There was not much he could gain for himself. As Andrei said he, a royal police officer and the son of a well-known family, hid undercover by changing his status like he did. They would have intended to take their own lives in case of emergency.
As Viktor looked out at the rain that began to pour outside the window, Evan came back from the interrogation and said.
“He seems to be sent by Crown Prince Yuli Irene.”
“No need to report something so obvious. What about Scarlett?”
“He just laughs when asked. I was losing my mind.”
Viktor replied to his words.
“I'll investigate it.”
Evan was about to step out, but Pallin, who came along with him, added, saying something more than was required.
“Are you going to interrogate the girl as well?”
At his question, Viktor turned to look at Pallin.
