[TTH] 50 – I can use magic for the first time…! I got carried away and was sent flying.

(“…I bless you, seed, sprout and be born, sing with joy.”)

In my heart, I chanted the spell written in the grimoire (the shortest and simplest one), and a soft, peach-coloured light overflowed from the emerald magic circle on the table.

(It… it’s happening… this time… oh… please… don’t stop…)

Sparkling particles flowed like a stream from the centre of the pentagram drawn on the magic circle and gently descended onto the seed in my palm.

The glittering particles gently enveloped the seed, and I held my breath, watching what would happen next. The round, brown seed seemed to have a faint slit in the middle, and soon a tiny, light green sprout peeked out.

“Look, Patrick, it’s so cute!”

Patrick, who had been watching the process by my side all this time, let out a relieved sigh and smiled.

He pointed to a wide glass cup filled lightly with water that had already been prepared on the table, encouraging me to place the sprout on it.

“Good job, Richeli. Now, let it float on the water. We’ll continue tomorrow. Tomorrow, we’ll focus on photosynthesis and magical fertiliser. So, study this page’s spell in advance. Well, with your current magical power… it’ll take about ten days. That’s our immediate goal, to make it bloom in that long time.”

“Can I really make it bloom in ten days? Really…?”

Overwhelmed with joy, my hand trembled as I placed the newly sprouted seed in the water in the cup.

My first magic.

Of course, I know that Abby can make flowers bloom in seconds.

But I, who had never dreamed of being able to use magic in my life, found this tiny, adorable sprout, which had sprouted thanks to my magic (albeit replenished by Zinon), incredibly cute.

“You seem happy, Richeli. How do you feel? You used magic for the first time, but you’re not out of magic yet, right?”

“Yeah, I feel fine. Can I do something else? Can I try chanting the photosynthesis spell?”

“Hmm, no. You need to rest your body today. If you don’t gradually increase the amount of magic you use, you’ll use up your energy, and you could end up hurting yourself. Let’s continue tomorrow.”

“Boring… okay.”

At the Elrand Magic Academy’s C’ class.

Today’s practice was simple magic practice. Since the level had stepped up, one student from each class, from S to C, came as a healer and support.

As a result of Zinon’s aggressive magic replenishment, I now have the strongest magical power in this C’ class. So today, Patrick from the S class is supporting me.

Looking around, Miranda was practicing creating a small tornado with wind magic.

Karina was practicing making a small flame larger.

Sonia was practicing freezing water into ice.

Unlike me, the people of Elrand have never had zero magic power, so they’ve been training in magic manipulation and everyday-magic since they were young. Of course.

So, it seems best for a beginner like me to start with the safest earth magic, as using the replenished magic to manipulate wind, fire, or water is dangerous.

Miranda and Luna, who have not been replenished with magic, are practicing using magic circles, magic stones, and magic water, known as magical tools while being watched by Sevigny and Christopher.

By using tools, you can use more advanced magic by using your magic as a medium.

The tool itself contains magic, so it’s okay if you don’t have much of your magic, and it also has the advantage of consuming less physical energy.

“Hey, Patrick. What about magic using magical tools? I want to try something, too.”

As I excitedly made my request, Patrick, gazing at the sky with his eyes closed, reluctantly opened his hazel eyes.

“If it’s just once, I guess it’s okay. But it’s a simple one, okay?”

My pink eyes sparkled at his approval.

I spread a large royal blue magic circle mat on the floor and stood in the centre. Patrick, looking worried, lined up next to me.

Using a magic circle for teleportation is considered relatively beginner-level magic.

“Are you sure about this, Richeli? Make sure you teleport somewhere nearby. Where are you planning to go?”

“Hmm… how about in front of the fountain?”

“Well, the distance isn’t bad, but it would be awful if you ended up in the fountain and got soaked. Choose a different location.”

“Hmm… the garden then?”

“Good, let’s go there. Visualise the exact location. Like a painting, once you decide, don’t change it. Once you’ve visualised it, chant this spell. Here, this is the spell for beginners.”

He pointed to a section in the grimoire, and my eyes widened in surprise.

“This long one is for beginners? Isn’t there something simpler?”

“This is the simplest teleportation spell a beginner can use. Spells that are shorter or only require thinking are advanced magic. Try your best to chant it. Make sure not to make any mistakes.”

“Alright.”

Let’s see. I need to read the spell first. I might stumble over it if I try to say it all at once.

I muttered to myself, reading the spell aloud several times while studying the grimoire intently.

“…What’s wrong, Luna Maria?”

“It’s nothing. I just felt a little dizzy. I’m fine.”

“Really…? Hey, you’re all sweaty, Luna. What’s wrong?”

I heard a female student from the C class, who was acting as Luna Maria’s support, shout from behind us. Patrick and I turned around in surprise.

Luna, looking dizzy, fell into the girl’s chest and then collapsed onto the floor, her face pale as if all her blood had drained away.

“Luna!”

The entire C’ class was in an uproar. The red magic stone seemingly slipping from Luna’s hand when she fell, clattered to the floor, bounced, and then rolled…

It touched the pentagram within the magic circle, that lay at my and Patrick’s feet.

At that moment, a thunderous noise, like a shout from the ceiling, filled the room with a mist-like beam of light. The room was covered in white.

“Kyaaa!!!!!!”

C’ class was in panic due to the emergency, and screams rang out, cutting through the air.

“Richeli!!”

When Patrick grabbed my arm and pulled me towards him, holding me protectively, a booming voice sounded, and the white mist in the ceiling split open to reveal a darkness like the universe.

What is this, a black hole?

The moment that thought crossed my mind, Patrick and I were sucked into the darkness as if we were being vacuumed.

“Uaaaaaaah!”

Patrick and I screamed.

We felt an explosive force as if a wind was blasting us, and then a sensation of weightlessness took over, followed by a feeling as if our bodies had disappeared. Out of fear, I instinctively closed my eyes tightly.

The next moment, as the sensation of my body returned to normal and the silence set in, I exhaled, opened my eyes, and was speechless.

A large mirror suddenly appeared before Patrick and me in the darkness, which made me question whether I was in outer space.

Even though it was a mirror, neither Patrick nor I, who were supposed to be right in front of it, were reflected in the huge mirror framed in an extravagant golden frame.

“What… is this…? Where… where are we??”

Next to me, Patrick, who had also been seated on his butt, froze, his hazel eyes wide open in disbelief.

“Wait… this can’t be… An inescapable room…”

Huh? What did he just say?
