“Oh my, you’ve invited many friends today. Thank you, Richeli.”
The Central Convent, located midway between the royal palace and my residence, the Duke of Morgan’s mansion, is as beautiful as an old castle with refreshing blue Venetian glass-like windows all around.
The sisters also wear blue robes as blue as the sky, spread out the bazaar items with gentle smiles, and enjoy chatting with people from the city.
I brought clothing, accessories, and other items for Julian, my family, and myself, which had been transported by carriage.
“I brought some things, too. Accessories, shoes, my mother’s and father’s chests, lamps. They’re a bit old but good quality.”
“Thank you so much, you are…”
“Miranda, sister.”
Miranda and the sister shake hands firmly, her orange eyes narrowing with a smile.
“I brought picture books and miscellaneous goods that I read as a child. What do you think?”
“Oh, that’s wonderful, Miss…”
“Karina.”
“Thank you, Karina.”
“This is my first time at a convent and a bazaar. I didn’t bring anything… the only thing we have plenty of at my house is weapons…”
“Oh, we’re delighted to have you show interest and stop by.”
The down-to-earth sisters, their age showing in the gentle wrinkles around their eyes when they laugh, make Sonia scratch her cheek. She might be shy.
“Actually, me too… I didn’t bring anything. I thought I might find something useful for my dorm life today, so…”
“Oh, you’re donating? We’d be happy if you find something you like.”
The sisters are overjoyed, their eyes gleaming at the sight of Luna Maria, slightly nervous and shy.
Yes, everyone is very bright and friendly.
In the end, everyone decided to come, led by Luna Maria, who said she wanted to attend the convent. Miranda, Karina, and Sonia all came along.
And…
“Piyo…”
Mugie too.
“Mugie, why do you want to come with me these days? You didn’t used to go out much.”
“Piyo, piyo…”
Muguet only came to the academy once. But today, again, before getting on the carriage, he was waiting for me to come out, ready to go.
“It’s fine, but… don’t go somewhere alone, okay? Be a good boy, okay?”
I look down at Muguet pleadingly as I gaze at the bustling bazaar tent and my heart races.
“Piyo…”
I stroke the fluffy pink fur clinging to my chest and look into his pure pink eyes. His adorable gaze is my weakness. He’s so, so cute.
“That’s right, should we buy a ribbon or something for Mugie? Something cute to put on his wrist, perhaps?”
The bazaar is very large, and everyone is wandering around, picking out items.
Not just the nobility but ordinary people too have brought things they can donate from their homes and are coming to donate while shopping for treasure, like silver tableware or jewelry.
I love this holiday atmosphere. There are drinks, light meals, and homemade sweets for sale, and Muguet’s pink nose is twitching at the delicious smells.
“It’s really fun, isn’t it, Mugie? It would have been nice if Zinon could have come too.”
That’s right. Today, Zinon, Axel, and Patrick all had official duties, so they’re doing things separately from us. Instead, they’ve assigned me more guards than usual.
Julian is also at a hidden picture painting exhibition with his parents, which he was looking forward to. He really loves strange and interesting things.
“Ah, isn’t that Lord Chris over there? Professor Sevigny is there too.”
Before I knew it, Karina and Sonia were walking right behind me, and when I looked in the direction they were pointing, I saw a very glamorous tall man and woman with similar deep purple hair, explaining something to people browsing the table full of accessories like crosses and rosaries, candlesticks, and magic circles.
“They really stand out, such attractive people.”
“…Yes, but…”
Karina, who had hesitated at my words, murmured after a moment.
“As far as I remember…I heard those two don’t get along very well…”
“Really?”
“Is that so?”
Karina gave a complicated look to Sonia and me, who looked surprised.
“My fiancé, Kaiser. He and Sevigny are the same age and were classmates in school. I’ve heard he hasn’t gotten along with his cousin, Lord Chris, since they were kids.”
“Is that so?”
“Before I started attending the academy, Kaiser knew that Sevigny was a professor and Lord Chris was a special lecturer, and he wondered what would happen. But they don’t seem to get along badly, do they?”
“Hmm…maybe they made up.”
With a puzzled expression, Karina looked at Sonia, who was uninterestedly looking at the items in her hands.
I noticed Luna Maria, a little distance away, looking at one dress after another, hanging on many hangers.
“She seems quite absorbed. Is she looking for something? She seems to be looking at dresses that are too fancy for everyday wear…”
“By the way, where did Miranda go?”
Sonia suddenly remembered and began to look around, raising her head.
“Here I am!”
Miranda, who had been running from behind, startled Sonia.
“Look at this! Isn’t it cute?”
Miranda held up her yellow-gold hair with the back of her hand to show us.
On her earlobe, a large, clear, teardrop-shaped jade earring sparkled.
“Hmm? Is that jade? It’s unusually transparent. Isn’t it just a glass bead?”
Karina tilted her head in doubt.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s just a glass bead. I like it. I’m considering wearing this to the soirée Lord Axel invited me to. What do you think? I think it’ll match my amber-coloured dress.”
Upon hearing this, I gasped.
“Wow, you surprised me. What’s wrong, Richeli?”
“No, nothing.”
I hastily shook my head as if nothing was wrong.
Maybe.
I tried to remember as much as I could about the dorm room layout where Luna Maria first stayed.
I think there was only clothing and a small dresser, but maybe it was in there?
Maybe.
Just maybe.
(Luna, do you perhaps not have a dress for the soirée?)
Is that why she was vague about Axel’s invitation that time?
“Hey!”
Everyone looked at me in surprise when I suddenly raised my voice.
“Do you all want to come to my house after this?”
