[SCR] 11 – You Will Be Mine

Idyllia took a step away from him, forcing herself to pull her gaze away from his eyes, which were still absorbed in hers. She turned away from the hand that touched her chin. Her and his paths had diverged. They would never overlap again.

"I'm sorry I stopped you. I have to get back soon... Please be careful on the road ahead."

She spoke politely but without showing any signs of weakness. She was about to turn on her heel when she was grabbed by the arm from behind.

"Wait. It must be God's will that we meet again here. Why don't you come with me?"

He didn't ask, but his tone was commanding. In fact, he wordlessly pulled the arm he grabbed. "No, come with me. You and I used to have a future together."

"I can't do that now. Let go of me..."

She struggled to escape, but the hand on her arm did not budge.

"Why?"

"You can see, can't you? I have renounced the mundane world. I will devote myself to God for the rest of my life."

 He squeezed her arm.

"Is that more important than me?"

"..."

The question was so arrogant that she was absolutely mortified.

“Of course!”

When she responded firmly, his moon-white eyes quickly cooled.

"Ha... Ha... I see, you've become more haughty than before─"

When he said this Idyllia slapped him. Silvio had brought his face close to hers as if to kiss her, with all her might. The sound of the slap on his cheek echoed high in the air.

"I said let me go!"

As she shouted at him, she heard laughter and boisterous voices from the group with their warhorses that continued to advance down the street one after another.

"... That's a good blow."

 Silvio chuckled, holding his cheeks.

"But as a way to get rid of a man, this is the worst. It makes your partner even more savage."

"I completely missed that! I can't believe you’ve become someone like this…”

He sneered at Idyllia, who put on a brave front – she was bluffing.

"I see. But even a man like me leads a country's envoy. A slap to me is going to cost you."

His eyes, looking down at her, were like a beast watching its prey. It complimented his dazzling silver hair.

“Now that I think of it, I’ve yet to bang a woman devoted to God.”

Pressured by his smirk and insinuation, Idyllia turned on her heel and said no more; she ran away. As she ran hard, he gave chase at her back.

"Run away for now. But remember - you'll be mine one day!"

As if pronouncing her fate, the voice followed her everywhere.

"I'm going to make you mine, Idyllia!"

♔♔♔

(Silvio. You're alive...!)

When Idyllia returned to the monastery, she covered her face with her hands in overflowing emotion and fell into a crumpled heap. Her daily prayers here had reached heaven. Nothing could make her happier.

(... I never thought you were really alive...!)

Her heart was filled with emotion as if her soul had returned to her. She thought back to the figure she had seen and clasped her hands, which shook with excitement, before her chest. He had become splendid. He was an amazingly fearless soldier.

(He called me, his...)

‘I'm going to make you mine one day, Idyllia!’

The words that he pelted her with made her heart tremble sweetly. She was a fool to feel that, but she knew it was futile.

He said such things, but whatever the reason, a monastery was a sacred and inviolable place. There was no way she could be dragged out of it.

She’d ignore her wish and devote her entire life to God. Turning to reality and remembering her position, Idyllia stood up. Even if he had lived, there was no doubt that many lives had been lost five years ago. She would continue to pray for the poor victims for a long time to come. Because that was what she had chosen to do in the future. She returned to her room and went about her daily routine as if nothing had happened. She prayed, read the Bible and did her assigned tasks. As she went about her day peacefully, her feelings, which had been stirred by her unexpected reunion with Silvio, gradually calmed down.

But then, a new worry arose.

The following afternoon, the abbot of the monastery came all the way to Idyllia and told her with difficulty.

"An urgent messenger from the royal court has arrived."

"From the royal court?"

"He says that your sister has fallen ill suddenly and is in a critical condition. A carriage is waiting for you out front.

"Eh...!"

 Idyllia shouted in surprise.

(Sick... My sister?)

She had always been healthy; never had a single malaise as far as Idyllia could remember. It was hard to believe. When she stared back at him, the abbot nodded with a gloomy, thoughtful look.

If she really was in critical condition, Idyllia couldn’t not visit her.
