[IFITAOAMV] Chapter 68

We found seats at a table outside one of the food stalls and began looking over the menu. The smell of grilled fish heightened my appetite, and it was hard to choose just one or two dishes.

"Order whatever you want," Edwin said offhandedly.

"Really, I can order as much as I want?"

Edwin nodded with a smile.

Without hesitation, I began ordering everything that caught my eye.

Soon after, several grilled fish, including sole and sardines, were served with side dishes on the table.

"Are you sure you can eat all of that? You always complain that your stomach hurts when you eat too much."

Looking at the table full of food, I sheepishly scratched my cheek. I must have been in a trance while ordering. There’s no way I’d normally order this much.

"I ordered a lot because I thought you’d eat with me, too."

Even though I hadn’t considered him at all when ordering, I said this shamelessly.

Edwin narrowed his eyes as if he knew exactly what I was thinking. Feeling embarrassed, I avoided his gaze, and he placed a fork in my hand.

"Eat up. I’ll take care of the rest."

I picked up some fish and took a bite. The smoky flavour from the charcoal grill filled my mouth with a satisfying taste.

'Grilled fish is definitely best cooked over a flame.'

As I trembled with delight from the taste, I heard Edwin click his tongue.

"You have such peculiar tastes. You only seem to like things that look ugly."

Edwin grumbled, poking at the fish head with his fork, clearly dissatisfied.

"Why don’t you try some, Ed?"

Thinking maybe he was upset because I was eating alone, I pushed the plate toward him. But Edwin just kept poking at the fish and showed no interest in eating.

I thought for a moment about how to cheer him up and remembered the time he had asked me to feed him.

"Come on, say ‘ah’."

I cut off a piece of fish and held it out to him, hoping it might work this time, too.

Edwin stared at the fish for a moment before reluctantly taking a bite.

"How is it?"

"It’s just like any other fish I’ve had before. But it’s better than that ugly bread."

Ugly bread? Tilting my head, I suddenly remembered the time I had fed him scones.

I didn’t understand why he was bringing up scones now, but at least his mood seemed to have improved a little.

"Let’s eat together. I can’t finish this all by myself."

I pushed the plate closer to him again. This time, Edwin propped his chin on his hand and opened his mouth, clearly expecting me to feed him again.

It was obvious what he wanted, but I pretended not to notice and placed the fork on the plate. Edwin’s eyebrow shot up at my nonchalance.

Even though we’d signed vows and I had awakened my jewel-crafting abilities, my heart still fluttered like crazy whenever he did something like this.

In the end, I sighed and picked up the fork again, feeding him another bite.

As soon as I did, his previously discontented face brightened like the sun.

Before I knew it, the massive spread of food had steadily disappeared, and the plates were all empty.

"Finished?"

"Yes."

"Then let’s go."

Edwin stood up abruptly and scooped me into his arms.

As we strolled through the market stalls, I noticed people carrying small flower pots.

"I was wondering what they were carrying. It’s flowers."

Edwin chuckled beside me.

"Do you know what kind of flowers those are?"

"No idea."

Well, it wasn’t like a dragon would know much about flowers.

I watched the people more closely and noticed that all the flowers were the same type.

"Do you want one?"

When I nodded slightly, Edwin looked around. There were more flower stalls than I expected. We walked to the nearest one.

"Oh my, such a handsome couple! You’re so lucky, miss. Your boyfriend treats you so well!"

The friendly-looking woman running the stall beamed at me, seeing that Edwin was carrying me. Already feeling embarrassed about being carried, my face flushed.

"He’s not my boyfriend. He’s my husband."

"Oh! My apologies, a married couple! I’ve never seen such a perfectly matched couple in my life."

I was about to say we weren’t actually married yet, but I swallowed the words, knowing it was pointless to correct her.

Meanwhile, Edwin’s face lit up in delight.

"You’ve got a good eye. We’ll take all of them."

"What?!"

The woman’s eyes widened in shock.

"If you have such good taste, you deserve to be rewarded."

At Edwin’s signal, Beryl stepped forward to pay.

"Oh, thank you so much! With such a generous heart, I’m sure you’ll be blessed!"

The woman bowed deeply to Edwin and then picked out the most beautifully bloomed flower from the stall.

Instead of handing it to me, she gave it to Edwin.

Both Edwin and I looked at her in confusion.

"This is called an Eplis flower. It’s said that if a man gives it to the woman he loves, their love will last forever. That’s why many couples buy it."

She winked at Edwin and laughed heartily.
