[IHTTMBW] Chapter 22

‘Hehe, I stole one sapphire and a garnet.’

It is mine, but it isn’t mine. I was happier than ever when I stole the jewels before. As I was decorated, the maids couldn’t care less about me.

There was one other thing that changed.

Euphil sent all the books I had. Some maids sent to me would teach me as I grew up. Those maids could read and knew history thoroughly.

‘Oh my, now they want to teach the princess?’

I was curious about what they were planning, but all I could think about was stealing enough to gain independence when I was 19.

Besides, I’ve heard. He never spoke to me, but the King was unsatisfied.

‘What a mucker he is.’

Yes, that day I heard everything. That day, I slipped into the dressing room like a shadow to pore over which jewel in the jewellery case was the most expensive.

‘A dressing room, you’re a big shot now, Myrthi.’

Originally, there was only dust, but after being betrothed to Allenan, it was filled with dresses. I could see dresses of all colours, which were fancy and expensive. The most expensive ones were a dress decorated with diamonds and another dress with emeralds used as a brooch. Whenever I see those dresses, I get excited.

‘I’ll take those when I run away.’

I was planning this thoroughly. Everybody knew that an expensive dress could come in handy. Until now, the maids have been doing just that the whole time. Now, I’m just taking what is mine.

That’s completely reasonable.

There were jewels in the corner of this dressing room. I would grab handfuls each time and hide them somewhere else. Even though they often clean up the dressing room, they will never find my hiding place.

I found this secret place when I placed my treasures in the closet. It seemed like a place used to hide cash, like a secret drawer in the Middle Ages.

‘Hahaha, this is all mine.’

While grinning and looking at the jewels, I stopped laughing when I heard something. I could hear people conversing outside.

The maids were talking. It seemed like they wanted to have a secret conversation inside the dressing room. They talked so quietly that I wouldn’t have known if I wasn’t in the closet.

This was what they were whispering about.

“The Queen said they would send the Princess of Crothasone to the kingdom of Alkaden since they want their child to live abundantly.”

“They approved it.”

“Too many people were there, so she couldn’t show her discomfort. The neighbouring Queen was there too.”

A-ha, that’s what happened. Huh, live abundantly?

I was confident enough to live without education but liked the treasures, so I never protested against the lessons. The next part was more important.

“She should thank Prince Euphil. If the prince had never punished the maids, the neighbouring prince would have never entered the garden.”

“That’s right. But I can’t believe he is being suspended for punishing maids who did bad things and made a mess in the other palace. That’s complete nonsense.”

“The King is such a moron. I mean it.”

My head spun as someone hit it, and I opened my eyes wide.

⋆⋅☆⋅⋆

They were talking about Euphil.

They even mentioned that he was put on probation because he made a commotion even though he was only ten.

‘He’s on probation? Then, he is locked in the palace now?’

It’s been at least two months since I started looking around for Euphil. I was a little depressed that he may not like me anymore, but I didn’t want to give up.

But now I know that he is on probation.

‘I should have gone to him! No, I didn’t go because I can’t!’

I didn’t look in the palace for one simple reason: I didn’t know the path to it.

When I requested Orzette to put me onto the path to the palace, Orzette suddenly ran away, saying that she had something to do.

‘That’s it, damn it.’

No wonder my heart was throbbing.

I was living well like this, but Euphil could not go outside.

I felt very strange for some reason.

What am I supposed to do?

I have been trying to find him. I need to talk to him face-to-face since I have something to say.

He helped me, but now he was trapped, and it weighed a lot on my mind.

‘Right now!’

I remember the look on his face as he shouted and punished Ante. He looked at me with regretful eyes, and at that moment, I thought that he must have made up his mind about something.

I didn’t know that something was his determination.

No, more importantly, why on earth is the prince punished for punishing a maid?
