[IHTTMBW] Chapter 19
The boy had black hair and blue eyes; he was quite handsome. It’s strange to call a small boy handsome, but he was an exception.
Anyone would agree with me on this case. Maybe it is because his eyebrows were rather dark. His clean-cut features and expression made him look sharp, but his eyes gleamed at me like a dog.
“Myrthi.”
“Myrthi? I am Allenan.”
“Ah, Alle?”
“Just call me Lenan.”
“Lenan…”
I was curious. He seemed to blush as I hugged him, but I didn’t care. I had to know who he was.
“Where are you from? This is Myrthi’s palace!”
“Is this your palace? I am from Arkaden.”
Arkaden. I was astonished. I knew who this was; this bastard was the main male character! He’s from the neighbouring country, but later in the story, Euphil attacks them. This leads to Allenan retreating to another country where he plots his revenge.
But he had no relation with Myrthi as she died before then, the day when Euphil became King.
The country where I live is called Crothasone. According to the book, Crothasone was considered a weak country. After Euphil took the throne, things changed dramatically. Euphil started to take over other nearby nations with powerful force.
Arkaden, located next to Crothasone, was forced to fight against Euphil. Allenan resisted him. He was the prince of the defeated country. He was intelligent, resilient, and pure.
He gained power in the countryside, where he ran off to and later attacked Euphil, a tyrant who could never gain support from his servants. The book clearly explains how Euphil’s reign collapsed.
And Allenan’s next words confused me.
“You look like an angel.”
Are you kidding?
I glared at you with the intended message, ‘You are the person who attacked my older brother!’. But it seemed my face had tons of attraction; he was lured every time he made eye contact.
“I am not dead.”
I said, my cheeks puffed out. Allenan retracted his hands, which were placed on my shoulders, and flailed them side-to-side in immediate denial. He shook his head, too.
“No, no. Not because you’re dead. You look like that angel statue.”
Angel statue? I was confused.
I hopped a step back and got away from Allenan. As I dusted my clothes with my small hands, Allenan looked sad.
“If you go straight, you could see a fountain with an angel statue.”
Even though I was still curious about what he was doing in my garden, I was also curious about the angel statue. What kind of angel statue is it? Is it a statue imitating me?
That won’t be possible. I am the hated Princess. But how on earth does this bastard know all this?
As I was curious, Allenan extended out his hand.
“I’ll show you. Let’s go.”
“Okay….”
Curious, I walked slowly alongside him, holding his hand. On the way to the statue, Allenan would wait for me whenever I was tired. When it was the third time I rested, we were in the middle of the garden, and I could hear water flowing in a remote place.
If you looked around here while resting, it was a truly beautiful place.
Green trees adorned with flowers surrounded us, decorating the maze beautifully. But this maze was the problem.
“Are we there yet?”
As I whined, Allenan made a difficult expression. Then he turned around to face me and said.
“Should I carry you?”
“Carry me?”
“Yeah. On my back.”
Of course, I knew what a piggyback was. I had never been able to ride one as Myrthi, but he looked too small to carry me. I shook my head.
“Lenan could fall.”
“No, I’m strong.”
“…”
“Strong.”
After saying that again, he looked for a branch, found one, and soon began swinging it around like a sword. He looked skilled, but.
‘Euphil is much more…’
After I saw Euphil’s skilful movement, Lenan looked like an amateur.
He said it was fine and requested that I get on his back, so I eventually got on.
“Wow!”
“Is it fun? Am I good?”
Allenan’s small and beak-like mouth was babbling. His face looked to be blushing a bit, too.
Anyway, I brightly smiled and nodded my head.
“It’s the first time Myrthi received a piggyback!”
“Is it? It’s also my first time…to give someone a piggyback.”
Allenan looked quite embarrassed. I decided not to talk.
‘Still, there was someone else who hugged me first. My brother.’
I didn’t say that out loud since Allenan seemed quite pleased.
As I was on his back, I could soon see the fountain. I opened my mouth as we walked around the fountain.
“There weren’t any fountains before.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. There were only leaves here.”
That was true. The fountain covered in leaves was now clean enough to pump out clear water. And the angel statue was too tall for me to see. I could only see the angel statue now as I was on Allenan’s back.
The angel’s smiling face somewhat resembled mine, and it was pumping out water with its two arms. Even though its clothes were made of stone, the statue’s tunic looked realistic. Its curly hair and smile also resembled mine.
