[AFYC] Chapter 65

Inside the mansion, it was essential to assign a room that was both easy to monitor and secure, minimising any potential variables. However, when it came to activities outside the mansion, the fewer unknowns, the better. In such cases, it was preferable for her to visit places with clearly defined destinations.

“There are five or six other markets you could visit.”

If Abel Sting and the backup team had heard this, they might have been outraged, but that wasn’t Barbara’s concern.

“If you’d like to go to any of them, just let me know, and I’ll inform Abel.”

“Thank you, Madam.”

Barbara left the room with a polite suggestion for Seo Ah to rest. Seo Ah quietly observed as the door closed behind her.

Click-clack.

The soft, short steps gradually faded as Barbara moved away, until finally, the outer door clicked shut.

“Haa...”

A deep sigh escaped from Seo Ah’s lips.

Her legs were sore from all the walking, but that didn’t really matter.

Seo Ah pulled out the notebook she had purchased earlier in the day. She then took out the fountain pen that Oscar had given her and opened the notebook to the first page.

Oscar had gone off somewhere alone. Although it seemed she had arrived safely at the Reinhardt mansion, she couldn’t afford to let her guard down, so she spent the entire day paying close attention to Abel and listening to the sounds around her.

After a full day of careful observation, Seo Ah came to a very cautious conclusion.

She wrote two words on the first page of her notebook:

Luxen, Vieux.

If the Felphe Bank was her first destination, then Luxen’s Vieux was her second. Moreover, while she was under surveillance, she still had some freedom of movement.

Her mentor had told her that the chances of failure before reaching this point were over fifty percent. So, she considered herself fortunate.

Seo Ah brought her braided hair forward. As she lowered her gaze, she noticed the light brown ends of her hair and the red ribbon that held it together. The ribbon was bright red, with a small butterfly embroidered on it.

As she gently fingered the end of the ribbon, Seo Ah looked back out the window. Rising from her seat, she walked over and pressed herself against the window, looking out at the darkened mansion. Beyond the mansion, the unfamiliar city spread out like a black sea.

To catch a fish in such a vast sea, she had been told, one must cast either a very large net or a fishing line baited with a tempting lure. And then, she must wait patiently for the fish to come.

But she didn’t have the strength or the means to cast a large net.

Still, she could craft a modest fishing line.

She whispered into the darkness beyond the window.

“I have come with the key you’ve been searching for and met the wolf. I handed the key to the wolf, and I left a sign that you would recognise.”

Now, it’s your turn to find me.

If you don’t realise that I’ve arrived, I will make sure to show my peculiar face to everyone I meet.

If you can’t find me, I will continue to go to crowded places.

Even though my heart races and my breath catches, making me want to run away every moment, I will wait and endure.

“We’ll meet soon.”

Her small whisper clung to the window, turning white before disappearing without a sound.

♔♔♔

Though Abel referred to his profession as a wretched one, he took great pride in his own efficacy. In other words, he had a high level of confidence in his ability to function effectively in situations involving seduction.

While those who were only skilled with a blade might sneer at his work, calling it “honeytrap business,” the reality was that it was a highly dangerous and complex task.

Unlike search or combat missions that involved team operations, Abel always worked alone. This was true even if he found himself deep within enemy territory. If he was caught, the chances of rescue before death were slim, and even then, it wouldn’t be a peaceful death.

Even assuming he avoided detection, securing the target was never an easy task.

It was especially challenging when the target was a married woman, but he’d even dealt with clergy members. He had to carefully assess their temperament, current circumstances, upbringing, sexual preferences, and many other factors.

So, the task of seducing Seo Ah, a foreigner with an exotic name, felt almost beneath him.

Although it was bothersome to have others laughing and watching, it was nowhere near as dangerous as being in the heart of enemy territory. There was no husband burning with jealousy, no surrounding figures obstructing his advances. Moreover, she was naïve, had a pretty face, and knew little about the world.

Yet...

“Haa...”

A sigh of frustration escaped his lips.
