[AFYC] Chapter 50

Turning back to the front, Oscar began to walk. As he moved, the door opened in sync with his steps, and although he walked with confidence, he still heard the faint sound of footsteps following him.

Starting today, Abel would be tasked with reporting on Seo Ah’s every move, and soon enough, those reports would detail how she fell under his spell. Every report from Abel had followed that same pattern.

Oscar wondered briefly what the woman in the reports would be like. The thought drifted through his mind like smoke from his cigarette, only to disappear just as quickly.

The organisation of Reinhardt’s Wolves was remarkably similar to that of a military unit tasked with special operations. Originally a military force that defended the border, it had evolved into a highly organised entity, with specialised teams for combat, reconnaissance, espionage, and logistics working in unison. Each major group was further divided into smaller, more specialised units.

For instance, within the intelligence unit, teams gathered geographical information and mapped out enemy territories and structures. Some deep-cover agents infiltrated enemy ranks and lived among them.

And under the deep-cover unit, there were the “honeypots.”

Seo Ah, gazing out the train window at the rapidly passing scenery, turned her head at the sound of a refined voice addressing her. The first thing she noticed was a golden glint.

Abel was seated directly in the sunlight, his golden hair gleaming like threads of spun gold. Since Oscar had instructed him to accompany her wherever she went, Abel hadn’t left her side. While the others engaged in quiet conversations, Abel remained close, offering assistance.

“Is it too warm for you?” he asked.

“…”

“Why don’t you take off your coat? We still have some time before we arrive.”

Watching from a distance, the Wolves sighed at the sight of Abel Sting, who seemed to shine as if he were under a spotlight.

“He sat there on purpose.”

“Who knew someone could make it look so easy?”

“Boss, doesn’t this mean we should be getting paid less? We’re out here bleeding every day, and this guy is just sitting in the sunlight, showing off his looks. It’s not fair.”

Maintaining his cold expression, Simon said, “Why don’t you try it, then?”

“Ah, no thanks. I couldn’t pull off that sleazy look if I tried.”

“Exactly.”

Skill issue.*

The Wolves exchanged glances and shrugged in agreement, then turned their attention back to the foreign woman and the honeypot. Oscar, who had been reviewing documents passed to him by Simon, also glanced over at them. Like the Wolves, he had a similar thought.

He could almost predict what Seo Ah’s expression would be without even seeing it. Abel Sting’s appearance, bathed in sunlight, was dazzling. Oscar imagined that he might be able to open the vault sooner than he had expected. As he returned his focus to the documents, Abel was smiling.

Dressed in a silk shirt that was just as expensive as Oscar’s, Abel had deliberately left several buttons undone, revealing his well-defined chest. He had also rolled up his sleeves to expose the muscular contours of his arms. And he focused all his attention on the woman across from him.

It was easy to see why Abel had such a short turnaround time when securing targets.

Abel’s expression was the same one he had used to charm a certain countess within a day of meeting her. His previously bright smile softened, and his eyes took on a dreamy, almost entranced look. The kind of gaze made the countess, who had claimed to love her husband deeply, blush furiously and fidget nervously. It wasn’t just the countess. Every one of Abel’s targets asked the same question without fail.

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

And once they did, it was over.

Whether they were proud, depressed, or claimed to love someone else passionately, they all fell at that final question.

//The original says something like ‘it’s because I’m skilled, but I think ‘skill issue’ is a more fitting translation hahaha.
