182 – Scarlett’s Most Capable Employee
“Huh… I didn’t expect Arnold to do that where others could see.”
“And you were kidnapped not long ago.”
“But I came back safely.”
“Even so, why do you keep doing these dangerous things?”
As Isaac’s frustration burst forth, Scarlett flinched. Isaac continued, his tone intense.
“Aren’t you scared? Or do you want to die? Is life that cheap to you? We’ve managed to survive until now. We finally had a chance to live somewhat normally, but why are you like this? Seriously…”
It was the first time Scarlett had seen Isaac so angry.
The mix of worry and sadness in his voice somehow comforted her. After all, humans should get angry and cry too. So, his outburst of emotions meant that Isaac Crimson was truly interacting with the world.
Taking a deep breath, Scarlett finally spoke.
“You think I want to die? Isaac, I’m going to live.”
Isaac looked up at her, surprised by her straightforward words.
Scarlett gave a bashful smile.
“I have to live. There are so many people I need to protect in this world, and there are so many people I can protect. It’s inevitable. So that’s why. It’s not that life is cheap to me.”
“….”
“Isaac, I will live. No matter what obstacles God places in front of me, I will overcome them.”
“….”
“So that’s why.”
Isaac clenched his teeth, holding back tears. He used his hand to wipe his face after a while.
“Anyway, you think you can dry my tears?”
Scarlett answered with a smile, “Yeah.”
“Okay.”
Isaac tightly held Scarlett’s hand.
“I understand.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. I’ll keep running Factory 1. I’ll make sure to return all the recalled watches. Since the money has already been determined to come out of Uncle’s account, that’s not a problem.”
“Wow, everything got resolved in the meantime.”
“Then what am I holding these papers for?”
Isaac continued to hold Scarlett’s hand and said, “And once everything is over… I’m going to open a perfume shop next to your watch store.”
“Wow, that’s a great idea. On 7th Avenue?”
Isaac nodded with a small smile. His grip on Scarlett’s hand never loosened.
“No. If things go well, you should take over the main store.”
As Isaac spoke, Scarlett tilted her head.
“That won’t work. The main store belongs to the family.”
“The successor should have it.”
Isaac spoke firmly, “Now Uncle won’t be able to work on watches anymore, and I can’t make watches either. You’re the only one who can do it, so it’s up to you.”
“It’s such a massive estate.”
“Without you, the Crimson family can’t exist as a watchmaking family. There’s no bigger fortune in the Crimson family than you.”
Scarlett nodded with a smile at Isaac’s firm words.
“Okay, I got it.”
“Thanks for understanding that much.”
As Isaac made a pointed remark, Scarlett laughed awkwardly.
He got up.
“Then unpack. You’ll need to stay here for a while.”
“Is that okay? What about Aunt? Arnold and Marilyn?”
“They’re still here. They have nowhere else to go.”
“Is it inconvenient?”
“No. We’ve lived together for a lifetime, after all. Don’t worry. They won’t touch you.”
Isaac said and turned, walking up the stairs.

Scarlett realised that the house was far from being intact. Everything that Evan Crimson
had brought into the house had been taken apart, and there were empty spaces here and there throughout the house. As Isaac walked upstairs, Arnold Crimson, who had been near the railing, hurriedly entered a room. Isaac was in the process of restoring this house to the one they remembered from their childhood when they were twelve or thirteen years old. Scarlett’s room was also the same room she used when she was younger.
Standing in front of the room Isaac guided her to, Scarlett’s eyes widened.
“Wow…”
“Now, this is your room.”
A delighted expression spread across Scarlett’s face. The room was filled with things she loved.
Isaac spoke, “The dressing room over there is set up as your workspace. I thought you might want to work even when you’re at home. The dressing room is on the opposite side.”
“That’s really great. It’s exquisite.”
Seeing Scarlett’s joyful expression, Isaac managed to smile sincerely. Andrei arrived from behind and set down some luggage. With a determined voice, Scarlett spoke.
“Andrei, I’m planning to close the watch shop for a while. It seems like I’ll be busy.”
“Anyway, the nobles will be the first to evacuate, and there’s not much point in opening the shop.”
“Is that so…”
Isaac pointed towards the end of the same floor.
“Andrei, would you like to use that room?”
With that, the conversation continued as the characters settled into their new surroundings.
“May I have a room too?”
“Yes, of course. You’re Scarlett’s most capable employee, so you’re special.”
“Well, I don’t think I have a choice, but okay.”
I fell in love with this book when it was still ongoing and read it during COVID, anticipating each chapter’s release. I’ve been translating this book since 2020! I put a lot of time and effort over the years, hours on end manually translating and typing, and comparing with the original book so that my nuances are right, so that my translations are good (five years coming for TIDK).
Thank you so much for reading!! 💖 If you’re interested in reading ahead, you can support me by tipping me on Ko-fi, or subscribing (over 200+ chapters). I’m a solo translator for about 7 years now, and operate all the projects here by myself. I’ve had ups and downs over the years, and 2025 hit hard (both in my personal and professional life). I’d really appreciate your support—it motivates me! <3
I run this site ad-free, and these translations are kept alive out of my love for reading and sharing quality translations with you. Every bit of support helps with hosting, server, and domain costs. Thank you so much for keeping this project going!
